Admissions and Registration Procedure at Sacred Heart School

Thank you for your interest in Sacred Heart School. Sacred Heart enrolls students of all faiths with the understanding that students will attend religion classes and participate in religious practices as appropriate with the teachings of the Catholic Church. The school's faith-based education incorporates in its programs a respect for all religious traditions. We offer students in kindergarten to eighth grade an education program that promotes excellence, development of life skills, social responsibility and faith development. We desire to be a good partner with parents who are anxious to support our program, and their child, through example, participation in school events, and monitoring of homework, grades, and skill development.Symara in her class

We serve the north Omaha community that is bounded by Cuming Street on the south, Ames Street on the north, the Missouri River on the east, and 40th Street on the west. Though we are a Catholic school and teach Catholic doctrine and traditions, our school is open to students of all faiths. The cost of a Sacred Heart education is $6,400 per student but all of our families are eligible for financial aid. Due to fundraising actitives, applications for grants, and scholarship programs, we have been successful in making our program affordable to the families of our neighborhood. For more information on our tuition schedule, please click here.

We keep our class sizes small, usually 15 to 20 students in a classroom, so our total enrollment is approximate 130 students. We do not have teachers endorsed in Speical Education so we are unable to serve those students who need a partial or full-day Special Education program. A traditional elementary school curriculum is offered with the addition of religion class and a Life Skills program.

Our admittance priorities are as follows:

  1. Siblings of current students
  2. Parishioners children from our neighborhood
  3. Children of other faiths from our neighborhood
  4. Children from outside our school boundaries

Since our unique program depends on early and continuous training in Life Skills (study skills, positive thinking, social skills, career exploration, and self-discipline), we only accept transfer students in grades first to sixth. Transferring students must have good attendance at previous schools, passing grades, and satisfactory school behavior.

If you have a questions or would like more information on how to enroll your child at Sacred Heart School, please call our school secretary, Ms. Kathy Fisher, at 402-455-5858.
